Stove top stuffing in oven?

December 29th, 2011

At what point would you move the stuffing from the pot to oven or should it cook in oven th whole time?
We dont want it to be mushy. A little more of a crisp to it. Even better would be a recipe to make it in the crock pot if you have a good one. Any I found online had bad reviews because it came out too moist.
Thanks in advanced.
Yeah, tell me about it! I hate it,too. Thing is Im so strapped for time this year. I had to knock some of the homemade stuff off the list and decided the stuffing would be the thing to be sacrificed. Usually I start on wed but my whole wednsday is taken up.
Please help me make the most of what Ive got.

Crispy top has to be done in the oven!

I put mine in the oven when the turkey is done and after letting the turkey sit 10 minutes before serving/carving then the dressing is done and crispy on top! For those that like it more moist the middle should be!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Put it in the oven seal the top with foil or a glass lid to hold the moisture in OR BOTH. You have to be really careful with stuffing as to not let it sit room temp for any amount of time. If it looks like it’s drying add a cut apple to the top and a little bit of turkey drippings! Remember people stuff birds and it holds for hours in the oven just keep it moist.

Even though you are not stuffing the turkey put vegetables in the cavity with the intention of discarding them.

****Cook your turkey upside down until the last 20 to 30 minutes The juices will flow to the breast and the legs will cook better! If you are using a "V" rack Spray it with pam or coat it in oil before putting him on the rack.

Stove Top stuffing (name brand) is not made to go into the oven. You could, follow the label directions and then, just before serving, put it under the broiler for a couple minutes to crisp it up.
