How much water should I add to my crock pot when cooking pulled pork?

December 24th, 2011

I’m making some pulled pork BBQ in my crock pot and I was just wondering how much water do I add to the crock pot to cook the pork shoulder

In my crock pot you don’t add water, you just put in the pork and all the bbq sauce. And hours later it’s done.

none cut up the meat (boneless pork roast or boneless country style ribs) and put it on low and let it cook in its own juices the fat will provide enough moisture to cook about 8 hours on low then drain if there is alot of fat then add your sauce and put it on high for about and hour.

Place the pork in a slow cooker; pour 12 fluid ounces of root beer over the meat. Cover and cook on low until well cooked and the pork shreds easily, 6 to 7 hours. Drain well, then add 1 18-oz jar of your favorite barbecue sauce and enjoy!

    Just to cover the meat.

    I usually don’t add any.

I first put a layer of sliced onions on the bottom of the crockpot and place the meat on top of that. The onions will breakdown and contribute some liquid at the bottom to keep the pork from getting scorched.
