How do you soak pinto beans in a crock pot?

November 29th, 2012

I want to soak the beans overnight and turn on the crock pot in the morning to let them cook just like my grandma use to do it but I don’t know how much water to use. I have soaked beans outside of the crock pot before and then drained them in the morning but I really want to do it the way my grandma use to do it by soaking them in the crock pot, anyone know how?

Rinse the beans well.
Cover with 2 inches of water.
You should drain the beans in the morning and cover with another 2 inches of water.
HOWEVER…
You can rinse the beans well,
Cover with 2 inches of water
Bring to a boil in a regular pot,
Dump them into your crockpot and cook on high.
No need to soak them overnight. They will turn out just fine as long as they cook long enough.
Don’t forget to add mirepoix and thyme and maybe some chopped bacon.
